Interactive website development with a purpose
Good 3D website design is judged by what it helps visitors do, so a 3D scene or interactive tool should earn its place on the page. The best ones help a visitor understand a product, picture a space, compare options or estimate a cost faster than text alone could. The worst ones are decoration that slows the page and hides the content. We build the first kind.
Every project starts with what the visitor needs to understand or decide. Then we choose the format: a 3D product viewer, a scroll-driven story, a particle hero that sets the tone, or a calculator, configurator, estimator, dashboard, map or timeline. Each one is scoped against a performance budget before any code is written.
The stack behind the scenes
We build 3D in WebGL, using three.js directly or React Three Fiber when the site is built in React. Custom GLSL shaders give us control over materials, color and lighting without loading heavy effects libraries. Instanced meshes let us draw thousands of objects in a single call, which is how particle heroes and dense scenes stay smooth. GSAP handles scroll-linked timelines, and smooth scrolling is added only where the design needs it.
Models and textures are compressed with modern formats, and every heavy asset is loaded only when it’s needed. The 3D library itself is lazy-loaded, often after the first view has appeared. That’s how a page with a full WebGL scene can still pass Core Web Vitals.
Three quality tiers for every device
Most 3D sites are built on fast desktop machines and tested there. Real visitors use a mix of new phones, older phones, budget laptops and tablets, often on mobile networks. So every experience we build has three tiers.
The full tier runs the complete scene with all effects on capable devices. The lite tier uses simpler geometry, fewer particles and lighter effects for mid-range hardware. The static poster tier shows a designed still image for low-end devices and for visitors who have turned on Save-Data or reduced motion. The right tier is chosen automatically from device capability and the visitor’s settings, and it can step down if frame rate drops.
This matters in every region we serve. Visitors in the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe use a wide range of devices too. In English-speaking Africa, North Africa and parts of the Middle East, data costs and network speeds make lean defaults even more important.
Content stays in real HTML
Search engines, AI crawlers and screen readers can’t read a WebGL canvas. So we never put content there. Headings, copy, product details, prices and key data are always rendered as real HTML, and the 3D or interactive layer sits on top of it. If the scene never loads, the page still reads correctly.
That’s what lets an interactive site rank. Structured data, internal links, clean URLs and fast pages all work the same way they do on any well-built site. Our technical SEO team checks rendering and indexing on staging and again after launch.
Accessible and comfortable to use
Interactive tools must work with a keyboard, a screen reader and touch. Visual content needs text alternatives. Motion has to respect the reduced-motion preference people set on their devices, because constant movement can cause real discomfort. We build to WCAG 2.2 AA and test these cases before launch. For businesses selling into the European Union, accessibility is also a legal requirement under the European Accessibility Act, which has applied since 28 June 2025. Our web accessibility service covers audits and remediation in more depth.
Calculators, configurators and price estimators are often the most useful pages on a site. They answer a specific question and give the visitor a reason to share contact details, such as receiving a quote or saving a configuration. We connect results to your CRM and track every completion, so you can see which tools produce enquiries.
Adding 3D to a new or existing site
Interactive and 3D work can be a full site or a single component. We can build it as part of a new site through our custom website development service, or as part of a Refresh or Rebuild under our website revamp service. We can also add a lazy-loaded scene or tool to the site you already have. We start with a free website review and quote per project.
