SEO questions, answered straight

Everything clients ask us about cost, timelines, reporting, AI search and working together, with no jargon and no sales spin.

Getting started

How does your SEO process work?

Every engagement follows the IMPOSE Method: Investigate (audit and data), Map (keywords, prompts and intent), Prioritize (an impact and effort roadmap), Optimize (technical and on-page fixes), Strengthen (content, authority and mentions) and Evaluate (reporting and iteration). The first cycle builds the roadmap. After that, we work through it in priority order and revisit it each month as new data comes in.

What do you need from us to get started?

To start, we need access to Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4 and your CMS or a staging environment, plus Bing Webmaster Tools and Google Business Profile if you use them. We also need a short briefing on your goals, target markets, key services or products and main competitors. Limited access is fine at first, and we only request what the work requires.

What does an SEO agency do?

An SEO agency improves how often your website appears, and how well it converts, in organic search results and AI-generated answers. At IMPOSEO that means auditing your site, mapping the keywords and prompts your buyers use, fixing technical and on-page issues, creating content, earning authority and mentions, and reporting on results every month. Every task is tied to a measurable business outcome.

What's included in the free SEO audit?

The free SEO audit reviews your site's technical health, indexation, on-page basics, content gaps, backlink profile and a first look at AI search visibility. It compares you with a few competitors for your priority keywords and highlights the fixes likely to have the most impact. You get the findings in plain language, with no obligation to hire us, and it forms the basis of any quote we prepare.

Where is your team based, and how do you handle time zones?

Our team works remotely and has no physical offices, which lets us work across the time zones of clients in North America, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, English-speaking Africa and Australia. We schedule calls during your business hours where possible. Most day-to-day work happens asynchronously through email, shared documents and your project tools, so progress doesn't wait on meetings.

Why is IMPOSEO an SEO-only agency?

We focus only on SEO because depth beats breadth in a discipline that changes as quickly as search and AI answers do. We don't run PPC, paid social or social media management, which keeps our team senior and specialized. If you have a paid media team, we coordinate with them, sharing keyword data, landing page insights and search trends so organic and paid work together.

Can you work with our existing agency, developers or in-house team?

Yes. Many clients already have developers, a content team, a paid media agency or an in-house marketer, and we fit around them. We write clear, prioritized tickets for developers, share briefs with writers and align with paid teams on keywords and landing pages. We can own SEO end to end or support your team with strategy, audits and QA, whichever gets results faster.

Cost & contracts

Are there any costs beyond the fee in our proposal?

Your proposal spells out exactly what's included, such as content volume, link building and reporting. Anything outside that scope is agreed with you before work begins, never added silently. Some costs sit on your side, such as your developers' time to implement fixes, platform apps or paid tools you choose to license. We flag these early so you can budget for them.

Do you offer one-off SEO projects as well as monthly retainers?

Yes. Some work fits a defined project better than an ongoing retainer, such as an in-depth SEO audit, a website migration, an hreflang rollout or an AI visibility baseline. We scope and quote projects after the free audit, just like retainers. Some clients start with a project and continue monthly afterward, but there's no requirement to do so.

Do you require a long-term contract?

No. We don't use long lock-in contracts. Engagements start with an initial 3-month period and then continue month to month, so you stay because the work is delivering, not because a contract says so. Notice terms are set out clearly in your service agreement before anything starts, so there are no surprises if you decide to stop.

How much do your SEO services cost?

Our pricing depends on scope, so we quote after a free audit rather than publishing packages. The main cost drivers are your site's size and condition, how competitive your market is, the number of locations, languages or countries, and how much content and link building you need. After the audit, you get a tailored proposal with a clear monthly scope. Our SEO cost guide explains typical market ranges.

Is the free SEO audit really free?

Yes. The free SEO audit costs nothing and comes with no obligation to sign up. We use it to understand your site and market, and you get prioritized findings you can act on with or without us. If you want help afterward, we turn the findings into a tailored proposal. We never ask for payment details to request an audit.

Why is there an initial 3-month period?

The first three months are when the foundational work happens: the full audit, keyword and prompt mapping, the prioritized roadmap and the first round of technical and on-page fixes. Much of SEO's impact builds on that groundwork, so judging it after a few weeks would be misleading. After the initial period, the engagement runs month to month.

Why don't you publish prices or packages?

Fixed packages usually mean paying for tasks you don't need or missing the ones you do. A 20-page local service site and a 50,000-product international store need very different work. We'd rather audit your site first, then quote a scope that matches your goals and budget. That keeps proposals honest and ties every hour of work to a priority on your roadmap.

Results & reporting

Can you guarantee #1 rankings on Google?

No. No one can ethically guarantee #1 rankings, because Google and AI platforms control their own algorithms and change them often. Agencies that promise specific positions are either guessing or using tactics that put your site at risk. What we do commit to is a clear plan, transparent work, white-hat methods and monthly reporting on the metrics that matter to your business.

How do you report on SEO progress?

You get a written monthly report and a live dashboard you can check at any time. The report explains what we did, what changed, why it matters and what comes next, in plain language rather than a data dump. The dashboard pulls from Search Console, GA4 and our rank and AI visibility tracking, so you can follow trends between reports.

How long does SEO take to show results?

Most sites see meaningful movement within 3 to 6 months, and competitive terms often take 6 to 12 months. Technical fixes and quick on-page wins can show earlier, sometimes within weeks of being indexed. Timelines depend on your site's starting point, your competition, how quickly changes are implemented and how much content and authority building the plan includes.

How often will we hear from you?

Beyond the monthly report and live dashboard, you'll hear from us whenever something needs a decision or an urgent issue appears, such as a traffic drop or an indexing problem. Most communication happens by email and shared documents, and we can join your project tools. We can also schedule a regular review call in your time zone to walk through results and priorities.

What happens if rankings drop after a Google update?

We investigate before reacting. We check whether the drop is sitewide or limited to certain pages, queries or devices, compare the timing with known Google updates and look for technical causes such as indexing errors. Then we explain what we found and adjust the roadmap. Because we use white-hat methods, recovery usually comes from improving quality rather than undoing risky tactics.

Which metrics do you track?

We focus on metrics tied to revenue: organic leads, sales or key events, non-branded clicks, rankings for priority keywords and map pack visibility where relevant. For AI search, we track citation rate, AI share of voice, answer accuracy and AI referral traffic. We also monitor health indicators such as indexation, Core Web Vitals and crawl errors, so problems are caught early.

Who owns the content, data and accounts?

You do. We work inside your own Google Search Console, GA4, Business Profile and CMS accounts using access you grant, so your data stays with you if we part ways. Content, reports and other deliverables we create for you are yours under the terms of your service agreement. We also recommend keeping every account and domain registered to your business.

Local SEO

Do local citations still matter?

Yes, but consistency matters more than volume. Accurate listings on major platforms such as Google, Apple Maps, Bing Places, Yelp and key industry or regional directories help search engines and AI assistants trust your business details. We clean up conflicting listings first, then build citations on relevant directories. Hundreds of low-quality directory listings add little value.

Do you write or buy reviews for our business?

No. Fake, paid or incentivized reviews break Google's policies and consumer protection rules in many countries, and they can lead to removed reviews or a restricted profile. Instead, we set up simple systems that ask every customer for honest feedback at the right moment, templates for responding to reviews and monitoring so you can act quickly on negative feedback.

How long does local SEO take?

Local SEO often shows early movement faster than broader SEO, sometimes within a few weeks of fixing a Google Business Profile and core citations. Stronger map pack positions in competitive areas usually take 3 to 6 months of steady reviews, local content and authority building. Results also depend on your distance from searchers, which no optimization can change.

Can you do local SEO for a service-area business without a storefront?

Yes. Service-area businesses such as plumbers, cleaners and mobile technicians can rank in Google Maps with their address hidden. We set up the Business Profile correctly, define service areas, build matching citations and create useful pages for the main areas you serve. Rankings are still strongest near your verified location, so we set realistic targets for more distant areas.

Do you handle multi-location and franchise brands?

Yes. For brands with many locations, we build scalable systems rather than one-off fixes: a template for strong, unique location pages, bulk Business Profile management, citation consistency across every branch, local schema and review workflows each location can follow. Reporting shows performance by location, so you can see which branches need attention and share results with franchisees or regional managers.

How can a remote agency do local SEO for our city?

Local SEO depends on data, not on having an office nearby. We research how people in your city search, track rankings from grid points across your service area, study local competitors and build locally relevant content and citations. You provide local knowledge such as neighborhoods, landmarks and community ties, and we turn it into signals Google can use.

Can you help if our Google Business Profile is suspended?

Yes. We help you diagnose the likely cause, such as a guideline issue with your business name, address or categories, correct it and prepare a reinstatement request with the right evidence. Google makes the final decision, so no one can guarantee reinstatement or a timeline. We also put checks in place to reduce the chance of future suspensions.

E-commerce SEO

Do you work with Salla and Zid stores?

Yes. We work with Salla and Zid stores in Saudi Arabia and across the GCC. Typical fixes include Arabic and English hreflang conflicts, auto-generated thin pages, missing product schema and duplicate variant pages. We also handle bilingual keyword research, category copy in both languages and seasonal planning around Ramadan, Eid, White Friday and Saudi National Day.

Do you work with Shopify stores?

Yes. We fix common Shopify SEO issues such as duplicate product URLs created through collection paths, fixed URL prefixes, app bloat that slows themes, thin collection pages and incomplete product schema. Then we build category content, internal linking and authority to grow organic revenue. We work within your theme and app stack and coordinate with your Shopify developer or agency.

We're moving to a new e-commerce platform. Can you protect our rankings?

Yes, migration SEO is a core part of our work. We benchmark current rankings and traffic, map every old URL to its new equivalent, check the new platform's templates for SEO issues before launch and test redirects on staging. After launch, we monitor indexing, rankings and revenue closely and fix problems quickly. A careful migration minimizes, but can't fully rule out, temporary fluctuations.

How do you handle faceted navigation and filters?

We decide which filter combinations deserve to rank, such as color or brand pages with real search demand, and make those indexable with unique titles and copy. The remaining combinations are controlled with canonical tags, noindex or crawl rules so they don't waste crawl budget or create duplicate content. The right mix depends on your platform and catalog size.

What should we do with out-of-stock or discontinued products?

Keep temporarily out-of-stock products live and indexable, update availability in your product schema and feed, and show alternatives or a back-in-stock option. For permanently discontinued products, use a 301 redirect to the closest replacement or category if one exists. If nothing relevant exists, a 404 or 410 is fine. Avoid redirecting everything to the homepage.

Can you get our products into ChatGPT and Google AI shopping results?

We can improve your eligibility and visibility, though no one controls which products AI systems show. We optimize product feeds and Google Merchant Center, align product schema with on-page data, strengthen reviews and merchant signals, and make sure AI crawlers can access product pages. Then we track how often your products appear for buyer prompts across AI shopping experiences.

Which other e-commerce platforms do you support?

Besides Shopify, Salla and Zid, we work with WooCommerce, Magento (Adobe Commerce), BigCommerce and custom or headless builds. Each platform has its own weak spots, such as faceted filter URLs and plugin bloat on WooCommerce, layered navigation on Magento or URL structure on BigCommerce. We audit the platform-specific issues first, then apply the same revenue-focused e-commerce SEO process.

International & regions

Can you fix our hreflang setup?

Yes. We audit every language and country version for common hreflang errors, such as missing return links, wrong language or region codes, tags pointing to redirected or noindexed URLs and missing x-default values. Then we implement a clean setup in the page head, HTTP headers or XML sitemaps, whichever suits your platform, and monitor for issues afterward.

Should we use ccTLDs, subfolders or subdomains for international sites?

For most businesses, subfolders on one domain, such as /fr/ or /ar-ae/, are the simplest and strongest choice because every market shares the same authority. ccTLDs send the clearest local signal but need separate authority building for each domain. Subdomains fall somewhere in between. We recommend a structure based on your markets, resources, legal needs and existing domains.

Do you do Arabic SEO?

Yes. Our website is in English, but we deliver Arabic and bilingual Arabic-English SEO for clients across the GCC, the Levant, Iraq and North Africa. That includes separate Arabic keyword research, dialect, Arabizi and mixed-language queries, RTL technical checks, hreflang such as ar-AE, en-AE and ar-SA, and Arabic content reviewed by native speakers. We also optimize Arabic Google Business Profiles.

Do you offer French SEO for Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia?

Yes. Buyers in the Maghreb search in Arabic, Darija and French, often switching between them, so we run separate keyword research for each language and build pages that match how people actually search. We deliver trilingual Arabic, French and English SEO, with native-language review, correct hreflang such as fr-MA and ar-MA, and local Google Business Profiles.

Do you just translate content for new markets?

No. We localize rather than translate. Each market gets its own keyword research, because people describe the same need differently in each country. We work in English, Arabic and French, adapt examples, currency, units and cultural references, and fluent reviewers check content before it's published. Machine translation can speed up drafts, but it never goes live without human review.

Do you work with businesses in Africa?

Yes. We work with brands across English-speaking Africa, including Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. Strategies account for mobile-first search, data costs, local marketplaces and payment methods such as mobile money, and privacy laws like Nigeria's NDPA and South Africa's POPIA. We quote in US dollars (USD) for every market, which keeps pricing simple and consistent across countries.

Can you help a Dutch or other European company grow in English-speaking markets?

Yes. We help companies in the Netherlands, Belgium and wider Europe build English-language visibility in markets such as the UK, the US and Australia. That covers international site structure, hreflang, English keyword research by market, content that reads naturally to buyers in each English-speaking market and link building in target countries. We also set up GDPR-safe measurement so you can track each market separately.

How do you measure SEO for EU and UK sites under GDPR?

We use privacy-first measurement: Google Consent Mode v2 configured correctly, a compliant consent banner and server-side tagging where it helps you control data. Search Console data doesn't depend on cookie consent, so it anchors organic reporting, while GA4 and modeled data fill in on-site behavior. We follow your legal team's decisions on consent and data processing.

Which countries do you serve?

We serve businesses in the United States, Canada and Australia, Europe (including the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands), the whole Middle East, North Africa from Egypt to Morocco, and English-speaking Africa, including Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya and Ghana. Our team works remotely, but we research each market separately: search behavior, competitors, platforms, language and seasonality.
