# Custom website development with SEO built in from day one

> Custom website development on Astro, Next.js or SvelteKit, with SEO, accessibility, speed and lead flows designed in from the first wireframe.

We design and build new websites from scratch on modern static and headless stacks. Every build ships with a design system, fast templates, accessible markup, structured data and lead flows wired to your CRM, so the site is ready to rank and convert on launch day.

## Common problems

- **Templates that fight the content:** Off-the-shelf themes force your services, regions and offers into layouts built for someone else. Pages end up thin, repetitive or hard to navigate.
- **SEO added after the build:** When search is an afterthought, URL structures, headings, schema and internal links get patched in later. That costs more and rarely works as well.
- **Heavy pages on real phones:** Plugin stacks, page builders and unoptimized images push load times up. Visitors on mid-range phones and slower mobile networks leave before the page appears.
- **Leads that go nowhere:** Forms that email a shared inbox, booking tools that don't talk to the CRM and no tracking on submissions mean enquiries get lost and nobody knows what works.

## What's included

- **Information architecture and URL plan:** A sitemap, URL structure and internal linking model based on keyword research, so every page has a clear job and a clear place on the site.
- **Design system with tokens:** Color, type, spacing and component tokens with light and dark themes, documented so new pages stay consistent as the site grows.
- **Component-based front end:** Reusable, tested components built in Astro, Next.js or SvelteKit with Tailwind, chosen to match how much interactivity your site actually needs.
- **Content management that fits:** A headless CMS your team can edit, or Markdown content in the repository, with fields that map to page sections rather than one big text box.
- **SEO and structured data designed in:** Titles, meta descriptions, canonicals, hreflang, XML sitemaps and JSON-LD schema generated from the content model, not added by hand.
- **Lead and booking flows:** Forms, quote requests and booking tools connected to your CRM, with spam protection, confirmation emails and conversion tracking on every step.
- **Purposeful motion:** Scroll and page transitions using GSAP, Lenis or the View Transitions API, kept light and turned off for visitors who prefer reduced motion.
- **Accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA:** Semantic markup, keyboard support, focus states, color contrast and screen reader testing built into components, then audited before launch.
- **Hosting, analytics and handover:** Deployment on Cloudflare, Netlify or Vercel, privacy-aware analytics, consent where required and documentation so your team can run the site.

## What we build with

We pick the stack for the job, not the other way around. Most marketing and service sites need fast static pages with small islands of interactivity.

- **Astro:** Our default for content-led sites. Pages ship as plain HTML with JavaScript loaded only where a component needs it.
- **Next.js:** A good fit for sites with logged-in areas, personalized content or heavy server-side logic alongside marketing pages.
- **SvelteKit:** Lightweight and fast for interactive tools and apps that also need well-structured, crawlable public pages.
- **Tailwind and design tokens:** Utility classes driven by your design tokens, so themes, spacing and color stay consistent across every template.
- **Headless CMS or Markdown:** Structured content in a headless CMS for editorial teams, or Markdown files in Git for smaller sites that change less often.
- **Edge hosting:** Cloudflare, Netlify or Vercel serve pages from locations close to your visitors, from North America to the Gulf and Africa.
- **Multilingual builds:** English, Arabic and French versions with right-to-left layouts, translated URLs and correct hreflang between language versions.

## Custom build vs theme vs page builder

| | Custom build | Premium theme | Page builder |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Fit to your content | Designed around it | Content fitted to the theme | Flexible, but often inconsistent |
| Page speed | Set by a performance budget | Depends on theme and plugins | Often heavy markup and scripts |
| SEO control | Full control of markup and schema | Partial, plugin-dependent | Partial, plugin-dependent |
| Accessibility | Built into components | Varies by theme | Varies by widget |
| Long-term upkeep | Small dependency footprint | Theme and plugin updates | Builder and plugin updates |

## Why we build custom websites around search

Most websites are designed first and optimized later. That order causes problems. URL structures get chosen before anyone checks what people search for. Headings follow the design rather than the content. Schema gets bolted on with a plugin. By launch, fixing any of it means reopening templates that were meant to be finished.

IMPOSEO started as an SEO agency, so we build in the other order. Keyword research shapes the sitemap. The sitemap shapes the content model. The content model shapes the templates. Every custom website development project starts with the question of what each page needs to rank for and what it needs to convert, and the design follows from that.

## A design system, not a set of pages

We start with design tokens: color, type scale, spacing, radius and motion values defined once and used everywhere. Light and dark themes come from the same tokens, so switching themes never breaks contrast or layout. Components are built from those tokens with Tailwind, documented and reused across templates.

This matters after launch. When your team adds a new service page or a new region, it uses the same components and looks right without a designer. The site stays consistent as it grows, and each new page carries the same SEO and accessibility structure as the first.

## Fast by default, measured on real devices

Speed affects rankings, conversions and how many visitors stay long enough to read anything. We agree a performance budget at the start, covering page weight, JavaScript size and image formats, and check every template against it. Astro and similar stacks help by shipping plain HTML and loading JavaScript only where a component needs it.

We test on mid-range Android phones and throttled connections, not just on a fast laptop. That reflects how many people actually browse, from commuters in North America to mobile-first users in the Gulf, North Africa and English-speaking Africa, where data costs and network quality vary. The target is to pass Core Web Vitals in the field, not just in a lab test.

## Motion that helps, not motion for its own sake

Well-judged motion makes a site feel considered. We use GSAP for scroll-linked animation, Lenis for smooth scrolling where it suits the design and the View Transitions API for page-to-page transitions. Each effect has a purpose, such as guiding attention or showing a sequence, and none of them blocks content from loading.

Every animation respects the reduced-motion setting on the visitor's device. If you want a site where motion and 3D are central to the experience, see our [interactive and 3D websites](/services/web-development/interactive-3d-websites/) service.

## Leads, bookings and the CRM

A website's job is usually to start a conversation. We build contact forms, quote requests and booking flows that send data straight to your CRM, trigger confirmation emails and record each submission as a conversion in analytics. Spam protection keeps the pipeline clean. You can see which pages, campaigns and regions produce enquiries.

## Built for the regions you sell in

We work remotely with businesses across the United States, Canada, Australia, Europe and the UK, the Middle East and Africa. Regional needs change the build. Arabic sites need right-to-left layouts, mirrored components and Arabic typography that reads well on small screens. French versions for Quebec or the Maghreb need their own URLs and hreflang. Sites serving Europe need GDPR-compliant consent that doesn't break analytics or slow the page.

## New build or revamp?

Not every business needs a site built from scratch. If your platform is sound, a redesign may be the better investment. Our [website revamp](/services/web-development/website-revamp/) service covers two tiers: Refresh, a redesign on your current platform, and Rebuild, a new site on a modern stack. If you are replacing an existing site, we handle redirects and launch checks as part of the project, following the same process as our [SEO migration](/services/seo-migration/) service. Either way, we start with a free website review and quote per project.
## FAQ

### What is custom website development?

Custom website development means designing and building a site around your content, services and goals instead of adapting a pre-made theme. You get templates, components and a content model made for your business, with full control over code, speed, accessibility and SEO.

### Which stack do you use for custom websites?

For most content-led marketing and service sites, we use Astro because it ships plain HTML and very little JavaScript. We use Next.js or SvelteKit when a site needs logged-in areas, heavier app logic or lots of interactivity. We recommend a stack after discovery, based on what the site needs to do.

### How is SEO included in a custom build?

SEO shapes the build from the first week. Keyword research informs the sitemap and URLs. The content model generates titles, meta descriptions, canonicals, hreflang and schema. Templates use clean heading structure and internal links. We test indexing, rendering and Core Web Vitals on staging before launch. No one can guarantee rankings, but the site starts on a strong technical footing.

### Can our team edit the site without a developer?

Yes. We set up a headless CMS with fields that match each page section, so your team can add pages, update copy and swap images without touching code. For smaller sites, we can use Markdown files with a simple editing workflow. Either way, we document how it works and run a handover session.

### Do you build websites in Arabic and French?

Yes. We build English, Arabic and French sites, including right-to-left layouts for Arabic and French versions for Quebec, Europe and the Maghreb. Each language gets its own URLs, translated metadata and hreflang so search engines show the right version in each market.

### What performance targets do you build to?

We set a performance budget at the start and aim to pass Google's Core Web Vitals thresholds on real mobile devices: LCP of 2.5 seconds or less, INP of 200 milliseconds or less and CLS of 0.1 or less. We test on mid-range phones and throttled connections, which matters for visitors on slower mobile networks.

### Do you make websites accessible?

Yes. We build to WCAG 2.2 AA, with semantic HTML, keyboard support, visible focus states, sufficient color contrast and screen reader testing. This matters for usability everywhere and for compliance in markets such as the European Union, where the European Accessibility Act has applied since 28 June 2025.

### Can you connect forms to our CRM?

Yes. We connect contact forms, quote requests and booking tools to common CRMs and email platforms, with spam protection and confirmation messages. Every submission is tracked as a conversion, so you can see which pages and channels produce leads.

### Where will the site be hosted?

Usually on Cloudflare, Netlify or Vercel. These platforms serve pages from data centers around the world, handle SSL and scale automatically. We set up the account in your name, so you own the hosting, the domain and the code.

### How much does a custom website cost?

It depends on the number of templates, languages, integrations, content volume and how much custom design and motion you need. A focused service site costs far less than a multilingual site with booking flows and a large CMS. We offer a free website review, then quote per project in USD.

### How long does a custom website take?

Smaller sites can launch in a few weeks. Larger multilingual sites with many templates and integrations take longer. The biggest variable is usually content, so we plan content delivery from the first week and give you a timeline once the scope is agreed.

### Should we revamp our current site or build a new one?

If your platform works and the main issues are design and speed, a redesign on the current platform may be enough. If the platform itself is holding you back, a new build makes more sense. Our website revamp service has two tiers, Refresh and Rebuild, and we'll recommend one after reviewing your site.
